'Tween HomeSchool Meetups, Co-Op, Extracurricular Events

'Tweens (age 9 to 14) are in a unique age group and we saw a need for meetups specifically for them! They still want to play, explore and have fun... but yet want to flex their independence a bit with their peers. The goal of this group is to connect home school 'tweens, fostering space for relationships to grow and to support friendships that are built with time.
We will plan to have regularly scheduled "meetups" of popular activities at the same locations so kids can feel comfortable to explore the area and build familiarity with each other.
If you are the organizer of the activity, try to have something red to notify people where to meet.... red shirts, red balloons, red construction paper....
Original members of this group are located on James Island, but friends from all over town are welcome to attend meetups

"Charleston Homeschoolers is a faith-based homeschool community, offering support, information, and encouragement and a variety of social and extracurricular activities to homeschooling families that live in Ravenel, Hollywood, West Ashley, the Peninsula, James Island, Folly Beach, and the Sea Islands - Johns, Kiawah, Seabrook, and Wadmalaw.
Charleston Homeschoolers began as a desire to create and maintain ongoing relationships for our children and families in our community as we navigate this homeschool way of life. We are an “in real life” homeschool community and just use Facebook as a means of communication so that we can organize our “in real life” experiences.
We are completely volunteer run so nothing happens unless we make it happen which is why we required everyone to answer the question of how you would volunteer. There are endless ways to volunteer! Do you have an idea for a cool field trip? Do you know a place or person that would be willing to offer classes specific to our group? Do you have a favorite place to volunteer? Are you an organizer who can help with larger events and parties (curriculum share/sale, guest speakers, etc.)? Do you have a special skill or talent to share? Can you host a club? Can you offer homeschool support or advice to someone who may not be as far along in her homeschool journey? Or are you a social butterfly who loves to get the kids and moms together for a park day or a mom’s night out? See? There are endless ways each of us can contribute to the group to keep us growing and thriving!

This is a group for parents of homeschoolers in the Summerville/Charleston, SC area who are looking for social opportunities for their homeschoolers. This group will offer social gatherings, activities and events at non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends to better accommodate working parents.
Everyone is welcome! All ages although many activities may be geared towards pre-teens and teens, younger kids are welcome too! All walks of life welcome! Gatherings and events will be secular but also open to anyone who is secular welcoming. Welcoming and open to the LGBTQ+ and poly communities.
At this time, parents must either stay at the social events to supervise their children or have a designated adult at the event who will maintain responsibility for their children.
